Fireworks

Enjoy firework festivals and experience Japan's festive summer.

Japan's hanabi (fireworks) stands out with its brilliant variation of colors and carefully crafted designs. Hana-bi literally means "flowers-fire." Many Japanese cherish those "flowers of fire" that blossom in the night sky, which are common seasonal events of summer. During summer, in weekends, there are many firework festivals held nationwide, including Tokyo—a famous one is the "Tokyo-bay Grand Fireworks Festival." At most well-known firework festivals, many spectators are clad in yukata, a casual kimono, while many food stalls line up to sell casual snacks of Japan. They are nice occasions to experience Japan's summer.
