Casual and Inexpensive Summer Fun
With their large capacities, popular drinks and snacks, and reasonable prices, beer halls have become destinations for people from all over the globe who are seeking to relax and have fun. Japan is no exception to the phenomenon, and it is home to countless beer halls, including seasonal establishments known as “beer gardens.” Beer gardens are open-air beer halls usually set up in the summer on the rooftops of departments stores and other large buildings. In recent years, beer gardens have been operating for longer periods each year than they used to, such as from May through September.
Whether outdoors or in inside, in addition to drinks, beer halls and beer gardens mostly serve light snacks. During summer evenings, many office workers and others can be found basking in the frank, unassuming atmosphere and relaxing with friends.
All day dining Jurin, on the 2nd floor of the Main Tower of the Keio Plaza Hotel, holds
its own “Summer Beer Festival”from June until the end of September. Enjoy magnificent nightscapes and excellent drinks and food, with items priced as low as 500 yen each.
