Osechi

Bring in the New Year with Keio Plaza Hotel’s opulent Osechi cuisine,
bursting with flavor and vibrant colors.

Osechi

With best wishes for your good health and a prosperous 2024 from Keio Plaza Hotel, we have prepared a beautifully crafted array of Osechi dishes. Upholding our hotel’s long tradition of culinary expertise, our Chief Executive Chef, Shinichi Sato, along with two other executive chefs, has meticulously curated auspicious Japanese, Western & Chinese feasts.

Three distinct varieties of three-tiered Arita porcelain ware by Hataman Touen, add an elegant touch to the joy of welcoming the New Year. Limited to just one each!

While inheriting the lineage of Nabeshima-ware, Hataman Touen is dedicated to both tradition and innovation. They continue to evolve and create products that align with modern lifestyles. This year, Keio Plaza proudly presents our premium New Year’s Osechi selection, painstakingly curated to fill the breathtaking Arita-ware with our hotel's exquisite cuisine. Adorned with detailed designs representing the three styles of Arita-ware – Nabeshima, Ko-Iwamari Kinrande, and Kakiemon – these porcelain bowls can be enjoyed long after you've savored your Osechi. You can use them to keep sweets, seasonal fruits, or mix and match with your existing tableware.

Kakiemon Style

Kakiemon Style

The Kakiemon style, known for its bright and delicate colored enamel work and the beauty of empty spaces, leaves a lasting impression. Each of the three tiers is adorned with auspicious designs of either pine, bamboo or plum (sho-chiku-bai), allowing you to appreciate the differences when they are stacked together. Furthermore, the lid features a phoenix, believed to bring happiness, making it a fitting box for the New Year.

Nabeshima Style

Nabeshima Style

Using the distinctive technique of the Nabeshima style, known as sumi-hiki (ink-flicking), each piece is painstakingly adorned with the intricate seigaiha (wave pattern). Furthermore, the lid is graced with the takarazukushi monyo (full of treasure) motif, featuring treasures like precious jewels and scrolls, enhancing the festive spirit of the New Year even more.

Ko-Imari Kinrande Style

Ko-Imari Kinrande Style

Elaborately decorated with both underglaze and overglaze painting in a style known as kinrande (gold brocade), the entire surface is adorned to the extent that there is no empty space. Its opulent and resplendent appearance is considered a symbol of the extravagance of the Genroku era, adding a brilliant touch to the New Year's dining table. On the lid, a dragon is depicted, believed to be a symbol of good fortune.

Limited to just one set of each style.
