During the New Year season at Keio Plaza Hotel, we invite you to enjoy a variety of cultural experiences that celebrate Japan’s rich traditions. From the elegant melodies of the koto to the expressive beauty of ikebana flower arrangement, each event offers a unique glimpse into Japanese artistry.
English guidance is available, so you can fully immerse yourself and enjoy these moments to the fullest.

"Koto"

Join us for a special event where you can try playing the koto, one of Japan’s most iconic traditional instruments. Surrounded by its graceful and delicate tones, you’ll have the rare opportunity to touch and perform on the koto yourself.
Our experienced instructor will provide gentle guidance, making the experience enjoyable and accessible even for first-time players.

"Ikebana"

We invite you to experience ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, using seasonal blossoms. With the gentle support of our instructor, even beginners can enjoy this hands-on activity and discover the unique aesthetic of “giving life to flowers.”
English guidance is available. In a quiet, serene space, spending time with flowers offers a calming moment and adds a deeper layer to your travel memories.

"Japanese calligraphy"

Experience Kakizome, a uniquely Japanese New Year’s tradition where you express your goals and aspirations for the year using brush and ink. We are honored to welcome the Awazu parent-child duo, renowned for their work on global stages such as international conferences and embassy events, as our instructors.
They will guide you through the origins of kakizome, how to hold the brush properly, and techniques for writing beautifully.
Optional: With the purchase of a folding fan, your name will be written in kanji on the fan’s frame and presented as a keepsake.
