Around the world, people have different ways of taking meals with them, such as the Western-style lunch box with sandwiches and fruit. The popular Japanese bento is another example, famous for its rich variety and its ability to enclose many different items of food in a single package.
A typical Japanese bento might contain rice, meat fish, egg, and vegetables. Such items are usually arranged in an aesthetically pleasing manner in a box made especially for this purpose, called a bento-bako. During school outings and on other occasions, most younger pupils carry their lunches in bento form. Many Japanese people have happy memories of eating bento with friends outdoors under the beautiful blue sky.
At Soujuan, our Kaiseki cuisine, box lunch “BENTO” is available. You will enjoy a delicate culinary art of arrangement and the beauty of the Japanese four seasons in the box. Also, small gifts of a “Furoshiki (Japanese wrapping cloth)” and chopsticks are included.
