With many talented and skillful bartenders, throughout the years Keio Plaza Hotel has produced numerous award-winning bartenders who have won at well-known competitions. Our secret lies with the creative “Monthly Cocktail” that can be enjoyed at the various bars & lounges in the hotel.
Our bartenders started presenting their original cocktails as “This Month’s Drink” from October 1972, which was shortly after the grand opening of the hotel. Since then, it has become a unique culture of Keio Plaza Hotel, with bartenders competing against each other and putting their skills to the test by creating original cocktails monthly.
Each month, since the beginning of this tradition, only one cocktail gets selected to be the official “Monthly Cocktail”. The first goal as a junior bartender is for their creation to be chosen. Bartenders could often be seen creating and refining their original cocktails at the bar counters after closing hours. Our bartenders polish and improve their skills by constantly and continually challenging themselves to create the ultimate original cocktail.
